Game Review (written by Hanzohattori) Added on: 11/15/2007
Beats of Rage was a game that triggered a lot of old memories. It was a game that was based off Streets of Rage with characters sprites from King of Fighters Series. This game is a classic beat ‘em up. Simple yet really fun.
The audio was okay. The sound effects were that of a genesis game, which aren't the best to begin with. The music wasn't too memorable, not that most beat ‘em ups had a lot of memorable music. The music is expected for an exciting game like this.

The graphics are superb. The sprites are excellent due to the fact that they are from the King of Fighters Series. The backgrounds were smooth and nice. Some of the backgrounds were a little dull at times, but I wasn't

expecting such beautiful scenery. The animations were great. Overall I really liked the graphics.
The gameplay was really classic. It was just like the Streets of Rage Series. It has unique special moves, grapples, and combos. Sometimes the gameplay did feel a little stale. I wish the enemies were more unique. I would like them to have cooler looking attacks, or more grapples. There was only one type of enemy that would grapple, and that was a little disappointing. The bosses didn't have much strategy to them, but I can't really complain about that. It would be nice to see some extra content to unlock to keep me going. However I do believe there was nothing to unlock. I did have a little trouble with the game because of the difficulty. I did however like the classic chicken for health. The game did get a little repetitive, but I had the time. The game did have co-op, which I love to see in games. I wish co-op was in all games.
The story was that of a beat ‘em up. Wasn't great, but I don't think beat ‘em ups are for the story.
Overall it was a really good game. It's worth a try. It's fun, a little repetitive, but still fun. I really liked it, and would like to see more.
