Blues Brothers

PC
Genre:  Arcade    |     Year: 1991    |     Publisher: Titus Interactive     |     Developer: Titus Interactive
Game Review (written by Theironeagle) Added on: 05/26/2008
A game that reminds you of being a kid in the eighties. The blues brothers are fantastic nostalgia of the seventies, and a great way to really enjoy the genre of music to this day. It was always going to spawn a game franchise, and it spawed the right kind.
The makers made a simple and fun game where you, as the blues bros, wonder around various colorful stages searching out record upon record for points and weapons to throw at suspicious bad duded along the way.

A game that had very little baring on the movie of its origin, oddly enough it works well as a fun run around. The controls however can really form a hastle for the modern day gamer,

there is no speed or accuracy and these days this would be regarded as more of a flash game than a real marketable effort, but luckily it goes down in the books as retro. A game of a movie that is essentially a poor mans mario will never really be as time withstanding as pong or pacman, but hell it isn’t what it was meant to be. It is a fun run around with very little to do bar being able to run jump and shoot records in an attenmpt to reach the end with your band intact.
Plot wise it serves well to the original movie, although it doesn’t really matter to the game play, but again, it does not have to be played as a fun and simple pick up your ergo key board and platform the world as one of the guys in black. Shades, hat and suit, its all there as you run around and jump higher than Jake or Elwood ever could.
The music in the backdrop can become fun indeed for the average user, but bloody repetitive for the addicts of us out there... me included. Such was always the case for the older games of the early 256 color era. The easy solution to this is get hold of the OST and play it in the background when you’re heading it up with Jake and Elwood.
In summation, treat your self to some low tech cheesy gaming and enjoy the excitment of playing as the brothers in black just for the sake of it, you have nothing to lose with this fun trip back to your childhood, and for you younger gamers out there, just relax and enjoy a simpler time before we had 20 buttons on a joypad, in fact before joypads where the thing... joysticks anyone?
