Game Review (written by A_doofus) Added on: 06/10/2007
This is a remake of the classic "Bruce Lee" 2-d platformer game. I first played this on a friends Amstrad back in 1986, but most would probably remember it from the Commodore 64 days. It has quite blocky graphics, and makes no attempts to smooth or blend colours at all. Having said that the scenery is not entirely boring, it has been rather well done, and the controls are good. I have heard rumours this game has never really been sanctioned by any "Bruce Lee" marketing division, they just started using the name.

Bruce Lee trots about on various oriental roofs and floors, climbs ladders, and vines, and something that looks like flowing water, that sometimes changes direction. He can leap over gaps between platforms and hazards. You collect the lanterns to unlock the doors to progress through the games many screens. If you're really keen you can spend some time on certain screens beating up the yawning sumo wrestler (aka Yamo) or the stick wielding ninja. Often you can quite easily avoid contact with them if you prefer, but there is extra points available for killing them. You're attack arsenal includes a flying kick or a punch; that's it, no fancy weapons to collect, but you can also duck under your enemies attacks. However if you time it right, you can actually kick the baddies of the roof, which can be good fun. You can also jump on top of them.
One nice feature is that in two player mode, instead of one player sitting and watching, the second player can actually control the sumo. So you can try and slow down Bruce, perhaps even beat him up, or you could even help him by attacking the ninja. The sumo is a bit slower than Bruce, so don't expect too much.
Aside from finding your way around the game, the only really difficult part is the electric floor, where you must jump over the zaps shooting along the floors in various patterns. This is typically where I die most often, but it comes down to jumping at the right times, and pausing at the right times. The big boss is a bit of fun, but curiously after you beat him, you get sent back to the start to do it all again. It's supposedly more difficult the second time around, but I can't say I have found that myself. There is not that much to it really, quite a simple game, but it can be quite enjoyable, at least until you work it all out.
