This game was one of my favorites of all time. I used to play this game for 48 hours or more at a time! The graphics were incredible for its time and I played this game almost non-stop until completion! The differences in levels was amazing and the level of difficulty incorporated made this game an incredibly addictive play. The last time I remembered playing this game, we played it all night at a friends house until we conquered it, more than twenty four hours later or more.
One of the best functions of this game was the ability to be able to save your characters position within the game at any given time and feel safe in being able to explore levels without the risk of losing your current position within the game.
The graphics for this game were superior for its time, and the remake recaptures all of that without losing any of the nostalgia originally generated from the original. The action and the moves you were able to perform was the beginning of several games that followed, including several other platforms such as Mortal Kombat and other Karate style applications that followed.
Also, as a child who grew up as a big fan of the old Bruce Lee
movies and other kung fu series, this game really captured that spirit well. The enemies that the main character encounters were increasingly more difficult to beat as you increased play in levels but yet never made it completely impossible to complete. This made the game just difficult enough to make it challenging, yet not so easy as to be conquered quickly or repetitive enough to make the game boring or monotonous in nature.
The remake seems to easily recapture all of those things, and is very impressive in how it does so. It is amazing so in eras where we have gone from machines that ran these applications with 64 KB of memory to machines that now run applications with 2 - 4 GB of memory that this game can still remain a classic and just as fun to play as it ever was. I have played this game non-stop ever since I downloaded it, and will continue to do so! It is exciting, fun and adventurous and it has yet to find me bored with it at all. My hat is off to the developer that recreated it, because, as a developer, I really appreciate a great game. Great job!
