Bubble Bobble is a classic game that believe it or not is addictive for people of all ages. I know, I grew up on it so I pretty much cover all ages.
I remember playing this game in the 80s on the NES and the arcade. It featured 2 little dragons called bob and bub who go on their adventures blowing bubbles to defeat their enemies.
I remember that there was a little tip to use on 2 player games which was that each others bubbles are stronger i.

I remember that there was a little tip to use on 2 player games which was that each others bubbles are stronger i.e. if you wanted to get to a higher platform use your partner’s bubbles to reach it.
The aim of the game is to trap the enemies in your bubbles what your character blows with his mouth and then jump

on them to make them explode releasing treats for doing so (fruit, veg, sweets which powered up either your running speed, bubble blowing speed or bubble strength and items that will help you skip levels.
The graphics and sound aren’t the best now but back then they were considered to be arcade quality and I agree with them probably because I used to spend most of my time in the arcades with my friends trying to make high scores on every machine just to see who could top us and make 1st place.
The end boss (Drank) was very tricky to beat, he wasn’t that hard but had high health points and was guaranteed to catch you out at least a few times before it lets you win.
I still have the game on the NES and every now and then get the console out for a walk down memory lane and some good old retro gaming.
Its sequel rainbow island wasn’t my favourite of games but it is still very playable and I wish I could find most of these games for the NES not just for download but the cartridges as well.

Game Review 2 (written by Mightyred75) Added on: 09/26/2006
Always through life people have tried to answer mankind’s most puzzling questions, what came first the chicken or the egg? What is the answer to life, the universe and everything? What is the greatest computer game ever? The latter can be answered by just two simple words Bubble Bobble.
Taito brought this game to the arcades back in 1986 and yet the franchise is still going today. Bubble Bobble centers itself round two main characters Bub and Bob and there double headed pursuit against the evil boss Hyper Drunk. Their mission to fight through 100 levels of monsters to save their girlfriends and rid the evil curse which initially turned them into the famous green and blue dinosaurs. Bub and Bob may only be small dinosaurs but they have the ability to defeat Hyper Drunk’s evil cohorts by blowing bubbles and capturing enemies and then bursting the bubbles and destroying them for good.
Along the way Bub and Bob can pick up many power ups that will aid the plucky duo in their attempt to defeat the evil warlord. These power ups can range from a little red trainer that makes our hero’s run faster to bow ties that make your bubbles shoot faster and longer. But don’t spend too long on any of the levels or the invincible Baron Von Blubba will pay you a visit.
And now let’s speak about features of the game. Graphics: not to the standard of modern games but back in the day these were colorful, simple and fun, all that is needed to catch your eye across a crowded arcade. There is one thing that is a written law in Bubble Bobble that you never get a dull level. Sound: not the strongest card of Bubble Bobble but the famous start music will reverberate in your head forever more once you have played this game. True the music can be a bit annoying especially when you are caught on a level but the dreaded fanfare when Baron Von Blubba is about to appear has the desired effect as you frantically try to clear a level.
Game-play: second to none. Although Bubble Bobble is now just another simple platform game it still manages to grip peoples imagination as they try to think of the best ways to complete each level without losing your precious lives. Multi-player mode also has you cooperating to complete the levels against the computer but also competing against each other to grab the bonuses such as the ‘fireball’ cross or the gigantic melon.
Lastability: 100 levels some easy, some hard and some infamous. Even if you manage to navigate yourself past the love heart level or Hi-Tech level and complete the game you still have other missions to do. Think you have seen all the levels? There are secret doors dotted around which lead to special treasure rooms and even a ‘real’ ending. Conclusion: in my mere view this is the greatest game of all time. True this game hasn’t got the best graphics or a fantastic soundtrack but it has got one thing that games in the modern era don’t have and that is playability. It has been nearly 20 years since I first played Bubble Bobble and to this day I still try and find better and more efficient way to complete this game. Bubble Bobble is simply number 1!

Bubble Bobble is such an amazing game. The characters are super cute and the gameplay is suited for all ages. It runs a tad slow but the nostalgia is somewhat worth it.
