Bubble Bobble is a classic game that believe it or not is addictive for people of all ages. I know, I grew up on it so I pretty much cover all ages.
I remember playing this game in the 80s on the NES and the arcade. It featured 2 little dragons called bob and bub who go on their adventures blowing bubbles to defeat their enemies.
I remember that there was a little tip to use on 2 player games which was that each others bubbles are stronger i.
e. if you wanted to get to a higher platform use your partner’s bubbles to reach it.
The aim of the game is to trap the enemies in your bubbles what your character blows with his mouth and then jump on them to make them explode releasing treats for doing so (fruit, veg, sweets which powered up either your running speed, bubble blowing speed or bubble strength and items that will help you skip levels.
The graphics and sound aren’t the best now but back then they were considered to be arcade quality and I agree with them probably because I used to spend most of my time in the arcades with my friends trying to make high scores on every machine just to
see who could top us and make 1st place.
The end boss (Drank) was very tricky to beat, he wasn’t that hard but had high health points and was guaranteed to catch you out at least a few times before it lets you win.
I still have the game on the NES and every now and then get the console out for a walk down memory lane and some good old retro gaming.
Its sequel rainbow island wasn’t my favourite of games but it is still very playable and I wish I could find most of these games for the NES not just for download but the cartridges as well.
