A classic re-make of Nintendo's Donkey Kong, Champ Kong is just as entertaining as the original.
You play as Mario and your girlfriend has been kidnapped by Kong and it's up to Mario to save her. You must climb to the top of the steel fortress, where Kong is holding your girlfriend hostage in a cage, using ladders and avoiding barrels that Kong throws at you. You must also try to avoid the little electric fire looking enemies. Along the way you get hammers to destroy the barrels and other enemies to recieve points.
I
n the second level you must navigate your way to the top using elevators and dodging diamond shaped things that Kong throws at you. Timing is everything. In this level you can also gain some extra points by collecting your girlfriend's items like her handbag and an umbrella.
In the third and final stage you have to collect the little bolt things that are holding the platforms together. When you collect all the bolts, the platforms will fall down bringing Kong down with them. Then you can finally save your girlfriend. You have finally defeated Kong...or have you? The game then starts over again only this time the levels are slightly harder. This loop continues until the player does not have any more lives left.
The
sound and graphics are what you would expect from a classic arcade game of its age. The controls are very basic and very simple. The game itself is very, very adictive and can be enjoyed for hours on end. Champ Kong is a very entertaining game for everyone in the family without all the violence and profanities of today's games.
Overall I'd have to rate it an eight out of ten for basic game play; a five out of ten for the graphics of that era if they are compared to now, but an eight out of ten for the time; a four out of ten for the sound of that era compared to now, but more when looking at only that era; and an eight out of ten for entertainment.
I highly recommend downloading this game for hours of enjoyment. Challenge friends and family members. A great cure for bordom with out having to leave the comforts of your own house. Suitable for everyone from school age children to the child in all of us. Sure to bring back old memories or create new ones for todays generation.
