Chip and Dale in Rescue Rangers is an arcade game that came out in 1999. This one is the Adventure in Nimnal’s Castle and from what I do remember of playing this game, it was very fun and a little difficult to learn at first. I do not mean that this game is a hard game, but you do have to figure out how to get through the first level without losing all your lives in one shot. The theory is that the more lives you still have at the end of the level, the better off you are.
The goal is to get the pair of cute little chipmunks into Nimnul’s castle and once you get in there, you have to collect all the little
blue bolts so you can fix the Rescue Ranger’s makeshift plane and rescue Monterey Jack (properly named because that is his favorite kind of cheese and he is a mouse).
In levels one through three, you are outside Nimnul’s castle. As each level progresses, you are getting closer to the castle doors so you do not have to worry about that. In order to progress through these levels, you have to maneuver Chip and Dale in and out of holes, while avoiding green acid that is dripping from the castle. You also have to kill metal robot dogs that will eat you if you are not careful by chomping on them.
In levels four through six, you are inside Nimnul’s castle. You are steps that are going down and have the much needed blue bolts on them that you must collect as you go. When you pick up these bolts, you have to drop them down to Dale who is on the step below Chip. Dale will then store it and then you move on to the next bolt. On each step you have to collect five bolts, and this is the same for all three levels.
In levels seven through nine (I think these are the last three levels), you are in a room with a big machine that has hands that will grab you if you are not careful. Chip has to climb up the machine and collect the blue bolts while avoiding the grabbing hands and drop them down to Dale so he can store them. You only have to collect five bolts in each level so it is easy unless you get grabbed by the hands on the machine.
This game is great even though the graphics are not as compared with today. It gives fond memories of watching the cartoon on Saturday mornings when it first came on the air.
