Cloudphobia is an action-arcade style game for the PC, as you may well know already. The goal of the game is to get to the boss and defeat it before you die yourself. However, this challenge is made harder because there are TWO shield bars. One shield bar is for your mecha, and the other shield bar is for the mothership, which is eternally off screen to the left of you.
This forces you as the player to avoid the generic strategy of defensive play and go on the offensive.

This forces you as the player to avoid the generic strategy of defensive play and go on the offensive. You have some help in the form of missiles. Each use of a missile locks on to on-screen enemies and fires a missile at them. Each use of a missile decreases your ammo bar,
which is right below the mothership's shield bar. You have a set amount of missiles per game. The points system in this game is determined by what you shoot and what your combo is. You combo never decreases as a result of a mis-aimed shot. And sometimes, there will be a red version of an enemy that flies by. That is a "commander" class enemy, which just states that you'll get the commander bonus when you shoot it down.
Now a curious option on the main menu is replay. What is does is, if you are able to save a replay, it will show you the game you select. You can watch how you did, learn from your errors, and hope to make sure that you don't do the same thing over again. Now, what I mean by "able to" is because under config, you can switch your shield bar, the mothership's shield bar, and the time to infinite. This disables your chance to record a replay, but you can use it to see how the stage goes if you lose early on. Additionally, if you turn on these options, you can't get a high score because the coding of the game won't allow you to record it. Now at first, you may not know what the controls are because the manual is kinda unreadable (at least, I couldn't read it). Z button fires your main gun. X button allows you to fire your missiles. C button allows you to either toggle between boost mode if you have it set to alternate, or allows you to boost, if you have it set to momentarily. And V button pauses the game.
Overall, this game is very good, the sprites and the animations are well done, it's not too challenging but at the same time it isn't a walk in the park.
