Game Review (written by Kadb89) Added on: 11/25/2006
Into Dragon Force player slips it into the role of a regent of the eight kingdoms, which in the once peaceful Fantasy country “Legendra” live. But the dark Demon “Madruk” would like to actually tear power. Now it is called the zerstrittenen king houses as a player to unite against “Madruk” and proceed together, which is not so simple.
Dragon Force can be arranged heavily in a category, leaves itself best as strategy - play with a strong shot RPG to describe. It is also beautiful very much that the storyline, depending on your choice of the regents, changes which naturally benefits the continuous fun, whole history always develops into another direction.

The play is divided primarily into two subranges, once the management mode and once into

the mode for strategic execution. In the management mode it applies the kingdom to administer. Here for example you can lend medals to generals or develop castles. When everything is settled it goes off to the upper world. The mass battles are much impressing… There it applies to expand your kingdom by intelligent tactical procedure, this is in most cases done via conquest of smaller counties.
A characteristic of Dragon Force are with security the fights running off in real time, as one had not seen them up to then yet. The battleground is shown by the side view, on the left side stands the opponent, on the right side your general including its Untergebenen. You give now, in the role of the general, your people instructions (storms, etc. defends). With the time an energy bar fills, at the lower edge of screen, if it is full, it can depend on the abilities of the individual generals, a special attack can be used.
The battles are great animated, then it makes for fun to watch correctly like the attacking soldiers of your opponent in the arrow hail your elbow contactors e.g. goes down. The story is told in fixed images further… By the way each army is up to 100 men + general, thus summ summarum is in the worst case 202 figures on the screen, but no sprite flacker is to be noticed! Thus solved great from the technical side.
Like it for a RPG belonged naturally also level ups are not missing themselves, after fights rise the HP (Hit Points) and the MP (Magicpoints - necessary for special attacks) of your generals. There are different kinds of units: normal Infantry over Magier and Cavalry up to kites, whereby each kind has strengths and weaknesses opposite the other one. For example Zombies are susceptible opposite elbow contactors that, from the distance, make them innocuous.
The map gives overview of your castles… After each fight view is shifted back into the map of the world mode where one is loose-sent now again units to the attack or defended however one of its castles. In the right top margin of the screen is a Sanduhr, if it went through it goes back into the management mode again. Unfortunately one can store only in the management mode, which is noticeably negative.
Before the fight there is trash talk of the generals… Particularly the special attacks of your generals in the battles are animated, soldiers into a dimension gate are pulled beautifully or roasted by lightning. Here one worked at Working Design with love for the detail. With the sound one selected consciously calmer melodies. Dragon Force is definitely the best strategy game which belongs with Shining Force III and Mysteria to the elite. Even today the game is worth another round. An absolute classic.
