Game Review (written by Corsair807) Added on: 03/22/2007
Generally, this is a game that you cannot just pass aside and say “Meh, maybe I’ll download it some other time” and never download it. Generally is probably the greatest top down racer available, with its addicting gameplay and numerous add-ons available throughout the internet. The only true downside to this game is the fact that it doesn’t have online multiplayer, but, trust me, it doesn’t need it.
While most top-down racers are from a directly overhead view and are in 2D, Generally is totally in 3D.
This allows for much more complexity compared to similar games, as factors such as elevation come into play. Generally also has an easy to learn driving model, yet it actually feels more realistic than you may expect from this kind of game. Now, I’m not saying this is a simulation, which it ISN’T, but it’s got that perfect blend of simple turn-and-burn driving with the strategy of when to brake and when to overtake.
Graphically, this game isn’t the best (especially the cars themselves), but in this game you aren’t getting close enough to the cars to see any little itty-bitty details, so the graphics don’t matter. Besides, when you have the interestingly real collision model and all the little effects from driving over different surfaces (including difficulty to drive

on non-asphalt surfaces), this game doesn’t need fancy super-detail graphics to be fun.
Generally also provides you with a wonderful little track editor to create your own race courses. While it does take around ten minutes to fully understand everything, once you get it making your own circuits will be easy. And the amount of tracks is not just limited to what comes with the game and what you can create, do a little searching around on the internet and you’ll find numerous race courses for you to download, many based after real circuits around the world. Add to the fact that you can also download cars for the game, and you can customize this game to include your favorite racing leagues and cars, so you can race NASCAR and Formula 1 without needing to buy different games.
So, for racing fans, driving game fans, or anyone who likes to drive cars, Generally will be a game you’ll love to play again and again.
