Giana Sisters 32K is basically a clone of Nintendo’s Super Mario Brothers and was released in 1998 by MYTH. Because of Nintendo’s popularity and the cloning, it was eventually banned from production only a few years after its inception, making it somewhat of a rarity.

Giana Sisters, Like Super Mario Brothers, is a side-scrolling adventure game that centers around the sisters Giana and Maria instead of the plumbing brothers, Mario and Luigi. Similar to its parent platform game, Giana Sisters 32K features a lot of jumping around in the various levels to collect objects by either touching them, or breaking treasure boxes that could contain any number of things. The sisters jump into the air, striking the boxes with the tops of their heads,
causing a goody to fall out. The goody could be a common star similar to the other hundred the hero has already collected, or it could contain a power up item. Common power ups include: the ability to shoot at monsters instead of jumping upon them, and the power to break bricks and blocks with their heads.
The game features great animation and a lot of color to keep the gamer interested. Unlike a lot of scrolling platforms, Giana Sisters 32K features numerous, distinctively different levels filled with cute, and well-animated baddies. The sound effects are wonderful and varied, featuring more than just the R2D2 bleeps and whirs. The bosses are all different with different patterns to figure out, making them fun to play instead of being another of many monotonous enemies. For those who play often and notice subtle discrepancies in the game (or those who cheat and find themselves an online walk through) Giana Sisters also features some hidden secrets. A gamer may be able to locate a secret box to warp between levels or a hidden treasure room filled with stars and diamonds to really boost that score.
In all, Giana Sisters 32K is an excellent download. There is a great sense of urgency created by the platform, which scrolls from left to right and never reverts. The levels are timed, adding to this feeling. Some levels breeze by, and others will take a lot of practice to negotiate, especially those with bonus rooms that draw the gamers in and tempt them to burn up time in order to collect treasure. All in all, Giana Sisters 32K offers of hours of entertainment on a simple platform scale.
