Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is one of the better made video games that were adapted from movies. There are many games that compare in comparison to its movie versions but with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the video game is just as good as the movie.
The game was created and published by Atari Games in 1985. The game was released for the Amiga, Apple II, Atari ST, Commodore 64, DOS and other platforms. The game features some really great elements that make it worthy of fan adoration.
First the video game plot is the same as the storyline of the movie. The scenes come straight from the movie version. The player will play the role of Indiana Jones. The player’s
goal is to free the children that have been kidnapped by the evil Thuggee. You will also need to recover artifacts that have been stolen from the temple.
The graphics of the game is pretty well made. It reveals the decade it was created but it’s not really the worst graphics to come from a video game.
The game can be played by up to two players. The game also features several levels of game difficulty. The game is composed of the following scenarios: Subterranean Mines, the Minecart Chase, the Temple, the Bridge, and the Challenge Round. In the Subterranean Mines, Indiana Jones will have to free children who locked in cages around the mines. His only weapon is the whip. The whip can be used against the bats in the mines and can also stun the Thugee guards. If you want to kill an enemy you will have to push it into lava pits and other fatal things. If Indy rescues all of the children in the mine, the player is awarded bonus points.
In the second level, the Minecart Chase you will control Indiana Jones minecart and race to the temple’s entrance. There are different obstacles along the way so the player must have quick reflexes. While avoiding obstacles, Indian Jones must also outrun the carts of the Thuggee guards.
In the Temple, Indiana Jones must recover the Sankara Stone from the Temple of Kali making sure that he does not die from the booby traps in the temple. In the Bridge, Indiana Jones must find a way to successfully cross the bridge while Thugee guards and Mola Ram try to get him off it. When he reaches the Sankara Stone at the end of the bridge, that is the end of that level.
After the fourth level, the game proceeds to the Challenge round where Indiana Jones must collect golden idols around the mines.
I’m sure fans and non-fans of the Indiana Jones movie franchise will find this game truly satisfying.
