I first played a demo of this game when I was like 14 years old. Back then, it was very impressive. The graphics, while only two-dimensional, are still very detailed and well-animated. The sounds effects were also very impressive (assuming one had a suitable sound card... a Sound Blaster 16 in my case). Massive explosions and deep, volcano-gun-fire held me at rapt attention for hours on end, playing the single demo level over and over again (I still play it sometimes even today, for old times sake).
The enemies are your typical violent robotic creations, massive, heavily armored, rabbit-footed (the green walker enemies in the first level look like they're on skis :-P), but all jokes aside, there's a sufficiently satisfying array of enemies to face from the get-go.

flyers are particularly annoying, however, especially, if you're piloting the blue katana-wielding robot. His massive energy-blast attack is usually sufficient for dispatching said baddies, though. Aside from his sword and energy blast, however, Mr. Blue has little else in the way of offensive weaponry (not counting the Option drone, which merely stuns enemies). His red counterpart, on the other hand, is a different story. Starting out with only a weak punch attack, the red robot gradually amasses an imposing arsenal of ranged attacks, from a weak volcano gun in the beginning and working its way up through a grenade launcher and finally (my personal favorite) a massive wrist-mounted laser that can cut through enemy walkers like butter. His Option drone tends to get in the way sometimes, though. When surrounded by swarms of those irritating flying enemies, the grenade launcher comes in especially handy. I know what you're thinking, "a grenade launcher? For flying enemies? What are you smoking?" But once it’s fully upgraded, the grenade launcher's massive splash damage can spread out in four different directions for some awesome flyer-toasting goodness.
For those of us who feel like some nostalgic green-walker-blasting fun, Iron Blood is definitely a winner.
