James Pond 2 - Codename: RoboCod is a game for fans of the James Pond series or anyone who wants a little espionage action in their lives. The game itself is chock full of interesting weapons and underwater action as you take on the role of James the Super Spy frog.
In this installment of the James Pond Series we find our hero at it again against enemies of freedom, this time in particular a sinister set of diabolic toys! Playtimes over kids, but not if James Pond has anything to say about it! So now you get a little taste of the theme to this really fun game here comes the low down.
On graphics I had to give this bad boy 4 out of 5 stars. For the date of release this game had some vibrant colors making full use of SVGA. The sprites in the game aren't monotonous at all as the come in all shapes and sizes. James has a couple funny looks about him, however nothing too elaborate.
When it comes to the music, the developers made a decent selection on tunes that go along with the backdrop scenery like the underwater scenes and the factory scenes. Although after a while you kind of want to turn the speakers of and jam out to some real world music. I give the music 3 out of 5 stars.
When you play the game
you get the standard few lives and a bunch of weapons to take on the baddies. Gameplay starts to get a little repetitive after awhile but then gets interesting midway through. It is fun for adults and kids as it is a pretty clean game in itself. The second most important aspect of any respectable game is replayability, James Pond delivers on this aspect with plenty of power-ups and hidden items, You can play a level 4 or 5 times and not find exactly everything. I'd say you can probably beat it a few times before you really get bored, so I give that part 4 out of 5 stars.
All in all I enjoy the James Pond Series this one was a step up from the first. I recommend the James Pond from Sega Genesis for sure. If You are looking for a game with plenty of levels, decent looks, fun gameplay, and a bit of humor, then you owe it to yourself to check this one out for yourself. Overall rating in my book 4 out of 5 stars.
