No true video gamer, young or old, can resist an adorable animated hero. Cite the success of Sonic the Hedgehog, the Super Mario Brothers, or the original and adorable Link as examples. Jazz Jackrabbit is another cute animated hero, and he stars in a number of his own platform games by Epic Megagames. The first Jazz Jackrabbit game came out in the middle nineties, and gamers fell in love with the fuzzy hero immediately, sparking many sequels, add-ons and knock-offs. His antics were ported to many formats to meet the demands of the many gamers clamoring for his fun.

Jazz Jackrabbit has starred in two Christmas platforms, both released under duplicate titles: Jazz Jackrabbit Christmas Edition, and the Holiday Hare.
Like the original Jazz Jackrabbit games, the Christmas
Edition was especially well received by gamers because of its vivid color, vibrant backgrounds and overall energetic look. This was a new concept in the computer gaming world at the time Jazz Jackrabbit was becoming popular, and it added greatly to his fame. Despite the fact that the Jazz Jackrabbit theme was new to the world of personal computing, its inspiration was, in fact, very old. Aesop’s classic fable “The Tortoise and the Hare” inspired the Jazz Jackrabbit games, and all of Jazz’s enemies seem to be reptilian in nature. His arch rival is a tortoise named Devon Shell who is the leader of a gang of terrorist turtles. Jazz always has to save his homeland of Carrotus or his girlfriend Eva Earlong from the fiendish tortoise.
With Jazz Jackrabbit Christmas Edition, the play is the same, but the graphics have changed from the rainbow of colors to the cold whites, grays and blues of a winter scene. Everything about the game looks good, and Jazz will actually shiver if he is inactive for too long. Even the menu is covered in snow. The music also reflects the seasonal spirit of the game, with the usual catchy tunes replaced with remixes of holiday cheer, including a rap version of the “Little Drummer Boy.” Christmas ornaments and gifts are hanging around the backgrounds, and the game was the first to introduce Spaz Jackrabbit, disguised as a doll in this game.
Jazz Jackrabbit Christmas Edition is a stand alone game and does not require a previous download to run properly. It is a catchy little play that is sure to keep the user hopping. The game play is similar to the platform of its predecessor, only with a Christmas theme both in appearance and sound. This is sure to become a holiday favorite. I highly recommend downloading it and enjoy.
