Ahhh, now this takes me back. [Flashback] enter me, 5 years old, with my second hand genesis. And on that genesis was Jungle strike. I have no idea how I completed it, but I did. Nowadays, I find it impossible to win.
So, there I was *boom, explosion, general sounds of battle* and then... someone steal my genesis! Shock! Horror! And I haven't played it since [/flashback] until, that is, I found DFG. And I was back. Boom! And... I lost. But a marvellous blast from the past anyway.

Graphics: they do the job, well, very well. Ok, the graphics are good. There. Happy now? DETAIL?! You just won't give me a break, will you? EXPLOSIONS!
Big, pretty explosions! Orange, and red, and yellow! And the wreck of your helicopter when you die in a flaming fireball! Ok, I can't work out the wreck... but it’s good!
The enemies? Oh! Enemies! Well, they... don't die that spectacularly, just *poof* in a big grey explosion. Alive? Alright, I'll explain that too... The vehicles look like they're supposed to. I didn't get that far this time, but I remember the Abrams tanks later on in the game, and I knew they were abrams. All the enemy vehicles appear in the right camouflage for their environment (except maybe in the city). Infantry are a bit of a let-down though. Just black `blobs`. There is some variation, so you can tell if that little bugger on the ground has an RPG or an assault rifle, but that’s it. 8/10
Sound: a bit crap really... I found it fuzzy, but not too bad... hate that machine gun sound. And the hovercraft sound... ok, enough ranting about the sound. 5/10
Gameplay: Here's what matters, and Jungle strike has it in bucket loads. Missions are long, challenging affairs, varying from protecting the president from your Comanche helicopter to hunting down stolen plutonium in a hovercraft. Vehicles are a lot of fun, and include attack helicopters, stealth bombers and my favourite hovercraft. Briefings arrive in your pause menu, designed to look like a computer in your `copter. From there you can see where, what and how the enemy is operating.
The missions are set, predictably, in jungles, but also may other places, from Washington D.C. to a chain of islands. One mission takes place at night, and oddly enough there is no night vision. 9/10
Storyline: games always have one, maybe two of four types of enemy: Russians, communists, terrorists or aliens. Ok, and there are ww2 games, but they don't count. Anyway, this one has terrorists! And they have nukes! OMG! That all you need to know. 4/10
OVERALL: (drum roll please...) 8/10!
