Created in 1990, this game is an all time classic. There is nearly no one who can say they haven't played it and loved it. Featuring everyone's favorite little mustached guy 'Mario' this is one of the first multi player games. It features Mario's brother Luigi and together the two brothers have to kill all the turtles in order to get to the last stage and finish the game.
Unlike the modern day Mario games, the turtles that you need to kill can not be destroyed by jumping on them.
It is a very different technique than the usual stomping of the enemy and one that I will let you figure out for yourself. You do have one pretty spiffy attach ability in this that I find to be quite entertaining, and that is your POW button. Give it a hit and see what happens.
The graphics in this game may be simple, but they are really colorful and have a great atmosphere. There is nothing more or less than you would expect from any VGA compatible game, with only 16 colors. Think Commander Keen for example. If you don't need the full 256 colors or even more, this is your game.
What about the controls? They couldn't possibly be any easier
but if you find yourself feeling that you would rather set the controls to suit you, and then feel free because this is a great option in this game and also one of the areas where it begins to gain brownie points, as far as I'm concerned. At any given time you can freely adjust you 'left', 'right' and 'jump' keys to suit your own style. The action controls are not the only thing in this game that you can alter or change.
Sound if not only a sweet feature, but you can change the options for it as you like. It's not entirely fantastic for a PC driven game, but there are some really cute and clear sounds when you jump, or bump in to a turtle. The lack of music throughout the game may cause a little boredom, but it is not a necessity to have sound to know if something good or bad is coming up. I found that being independent and not requiring sound as a means of hints was very pleasing!
