Miner VGA is an ancient, simple game, developed by Frodosoft and dating back to the late eighties. The concept and goal are both very simplistic, but the game itself is surprisingly addictive.
In Miner VGA, the player assumes the role of the miner, sifting through the earth in search of rare metals such as silver, gold or platinum. The ultimate goal of the game is to locate enough materials, amass a great deal of wealth, and impress Miss Mimi, the owner of the nearby brothel with whom you are completely smitten.

In the process of attempting to excavate valuable products from the ground, the poor miner runs into many difficulties. He will not only find precious metals, but will also have to sift through a plethora of stones
and other worthless junk to find something at all valuable. There are also bonus items that can be recovered. Some might represent better equipment, which will save you the trouble (and the cash) of buying them from the equipment store. There are gemstones that sell for much more than the silver you are digging up, increasing your bankroll more quickly. You may also find a miscellaneous item, such as a four-leafed clover, which will increase your overall luck, and improve your chances of bringing something valuable out of your mine. All of that sounds fun and easy, but there are dangers in Miner VGA, just as there are in real life. There are cave-ins and springs that will unexpectedly appear during mining and remove health from your miner. In the event that your miner is injured, the hospital is nearby and can help restore the little guy to his former self.
The game also features a saloon and a shop. At the town shop, the miner can purchase upgrades to improve and speed up the mining process. Some mining upgrades include: torches, dynamite, larger buckets, drills and oil lanterns. All of these items cost money, and it will take time and a lot of mining to be able to afford these items. Still, they are worth it because they make the mining go more quickly and take some of the tedium out of the excavation process.
Miner VGA features very limited graphics, but they are good enough for the game play. There are very few sound effects, and the game does feature some rude humour in the brothel portion of the saloon. Overall, this is a good game and has a nice replayability factor, making it worth a download.
