Montezuma Revenge was made in 1984 for the Atari family, Apple II, IBM PC, Commodore 64, and a few other old school game systems. It is a basic DOS platform game that was the first in its class to combine action, puzzle solving and treasure hunting.
The character’s name that you control is Panama Joe, also known as Pedro, and you have to navigate him through labyrinths and maneuvering from room to room. These rooms are filled with jewels, enemies, traps and other dangerous things.
You do get a chance to collect weapons and artifacts like torches, swords and amulets. The jewels that you collect along the way is how you to obtain points. There are some dangerous obstacles that you must also avoid that will
kill of your character which include, but are not limited to, conveyor belts, fire pits, and floors that disappear from under your feet. The enemies you have to avoid or kill include spiders and snakes. To avoid getting your character killed off you move him around these things by running, jumping, sliding down poles, etc. In the PC version of the game, this is done by using the arrow keys. In the other versions like Atari, you have a simple controller to use to maneuver him around, which is a little easier.
The main aim of the game is to basically get through all of the chambers alive and then you will reach the final chamber, the Treasure Chamber. Once you are here, you have the chance to get as many treasures and gems as you possibly can by swinging from chain to chain without falling. If you fall, you just move on to the next difficulty level.
Overall, the graphics are pretty good and so is the game play. I have always like this game! If you want have fun you’ll need downloading it!
