When you have two players dueling it out on the battlefield, it is hilarious. Things go wrong all the time and obstacles get in the
way on the field. The minigames are more fun because one player is trying to stop you from accomplishing the task. It is more competitive as well. Sometimes playing against the computer can be easy at times (unless you are the south). Playing against your friends makes it very fun because they tend to be smarter than the avg. computer.
Also, the game provides different scenarios, just like what happened in the past. Certain scenarios gives one side the advantage over the other. This helps mix everything up and changes the battle and war a little bit. This game teaches some great history lessons without taking away the fun. It seems like these older games had an educational point, unlike today.
I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes war games. Also, if you like history, you need to play this. It will make you laugh, especially when you are in the battle scenarios. Trying to control the horses is harder than you think and you can't help but smile when your opponent blows you away with the cannons. You will be frustrated when you opponent has cannons and all you have are civilians that walk ever so slowly. This game reminds me of an upgrade version of Risk. You play the numbers game where you want a bigger army than the opponent. However, North and South takes away a lot of the luck factor and enable you to control your destiny when fighting the battles against your opponent.
