Game Review (written by Ranger_bubba) Added on: 02/16/2007
I remember playing Outwars, when it first came out. There were many endless nights of gaming due to this particular title. The storyline, graphics, music, everything about this game is superb. The story doesn't lead you in endless circles like so many games of this era. There are new twists and turns around every corner that keep even the most seasoned gamer of the edge of their seat. The creators of games today could learn a thing or two from classic games like Outwars.

Its not even ten years old and the gaming industry has found a way to change the industry so profoundly, not we yearn for games of yesteryear like this one. Outwars was ahead of its

time when it first came out, and comparing it to some of the games of today it is still ahead of the curve. Not until games like Halo, and Gears of War came out was the excellence of Outwars duplicated.
All in all it was an incredible third person shooter that was definitely the first of its kind. The graphics on the game, (which look cheesy in comparison to the high definition graphics of today) were state of the art at the time, and even now when I play it I feel transported back to eight grades when those graphics were simply (as my junior high vocabulary out it) "the bomb."
The music and sound effects are pretty cool to, but weren't the greatest, and is looked at as one of the biggest downfalls of the game (at least that the worst thing that me and my friends could find wrong with it, and even then we consider it a very minor and obscure detail and is not a valid reason for not considering the game one of the best of its kind considering the time period in which it came out in).
Fans of the game may be considered a bit geeky, but in reality we were just the first to catch on to Microsoft's coming of age trend of creating sweet third person shooters. In summary the storyline get an A- for its lack of detail in certain areas. The music and sound effects get a B+ (the music is an A+ but the sound effects drag it down with its C rating).
Overall an A-, a good foreshadowing of what was going to come for Microsoft in the field of gaming. It is very east to get lost in the moment when playing this game!

Hours of fun. May seem a bit of a geek’s game but can be fun for anyone.
