Prince of Persia was one of the first games I ever played, and one of the most memorable.
Basically, you play a prince whose princess was kidnapped. I think. You have to make your way through several hard and puzzling maze-like levels to get to her and save her. On the way you find potions, poisons, enemies, swords, spikes and platforms.
Gameplay is smooth, classic and clean, and definitely an instant favorite if you're a fan of 8-bit. The storyline is hard to follow as I remember correctly, but once you play it, it makes sense.
Not to mention HIGHLY addicting and very challenging! It will get your brain moving and will ultimately get you hooked. All the fun quirks about the dungeons you travel through make the game have one new turn after another.
I remember now being afraid of the dungeons because of the fact that spikes popped up randomly and that anything could kill you, and whenever I played it, I could never figure out how to fight the baddies. Nevertheless, even I, as a young child, managed to understand gameplay. I watched my brother beat the game and tried to myself, but always wound up dying.
Certain elements make the game really fun. Things like booby traps, secret doors, potions that increase or decrease your life power,
and the ever-present wonder of, "Will I get to the princess?" Although slightly gory (in an 8-bit, pixelated sort of way) when one falls on the spikes (it's the noise I don't like!) it is still good for the family to play and will definitely intrigue anyone who plays it, or simply remind those of us who remember it how nostalgia feels good.
Highly addicting? Check. Clean? Check. Incredibly fun? Check. Instant classic? Very check! I highly recommend this game to everyone and anyone willing to give it a chance. I know if I could go back and play it, I would. It's one of those games you could play forever and never get tired of! Truly entertaining and an amazing game. I would love to play it again, as what I remember now is fuzzy, and come to think of it, I'm sure my brothers would appreciate it too! Delving back into your memories is one of the best feelings in the world! If you remember this game, I hope you recall how great it was. If you've never played it, I hope this review may have convinced you to try it for yourself.
