Rampart is an excellent strategy game, it can be played in single or multiplayer mode.
The aim of the game is to build your fortress, fill it with cannons and destroy the enemy.
Game Basics:
A player has an area of land in which to choose a fortress. On the land there are several castles in which to choose from. Once a castle has been chosen a small wall is built around it and you choose three cannons to place there. Now you have to fire at the enemy being it ships in single player mode or a friend in multiplayer.
After a period of time the attacking stops and it’s now your turn to repair the damage inflicted on you. Randomly generated blocks appear and there needs to be a complete wall around you to make a fortress. The fortress must have a castle. If you die, you get three lives in total. There are also little villages that produce artillery to try and destroy your walls. Players can expand their territory by building other bases or new fortresses if they build around another castle. This also limits and reduces the places in which villages can respawn.
This game is great fun but it has to be said that the single player mode is pretty lame. However, the multiplayer is fun. It

requires skill as well as strategy and is definitely a classic.
So the gameplay is good. But the game graphics is a bit of a let down and could be better but who cares when it’s this good? Rampart is similar to tetris because of the building part of the game. This is possibly the hardest part.
The most annoying part of the game is the respawning villages and artillery. Sometimes loads appear and just ruin your fortress! You also can’t build through a village but have to go around it but if you do, you kill it. Oh, and another annoying thing is that they destroy castles! Both yours and the ones next to you that you might want to build around. I think that if the game was made again it would not have these things in but it does make the game more interesting.
Other thing to consider is, like most of these games, the file size which is minimal and also how easy it is to download.
Overall, the simplicity of this game makes it a classic, the poor graphics still is no match for the gameplay and this is one to play! Thanks for reading.
