I remember playing these game many moons ago. It became one of the first games I'd bought for my P2 200 machine - going back some time hey?
The gameplay was fun, multiplayer was good, but in those days I was playing with null cables that meant slow multiplayer connection - often creating lagging making it difficult to precisely pin point the guy that was sitting next to you. But single player was an overall fun, brightly colored dance fest.
At the time most of these brightly colored early textured mapped 3D games featured music that would've been at home in Ridge Racer or Wipeout so that wasn't anything particularly new to me, even if I found the techno/drum n' bass music annoying.
Personal choice I prefer guitars and drums -so music did get switched off.
Gameplay wise, nothing new, go around blast certain baddies but with the added bonus of having the odd counter measure at your disposal, but with a big world and quite fluid animation it was definitely a visual treat. Bit like wipeout, but without the circuit. Though premise of the game was nothing new. The premise of the background story basic as it was, did give you a sense of moral responsibility, trying to defeat the quota of aliens to save the colonists, and often this urgency would be compounded by the intensity of the music. Though, personally I, would have preferred to put the sound down, brings a sense
of need to get the job done and right to the game - quite novel if you ask me.
Overall, good game, fun to play, graphical treat with added moral responsibility. It's not a fly around blast all you can game, but still provides sufficient action to satisfy you action junkies.
