Game Review (written by Dsaber) Added on: 09/30/2006
This game is absolutely awesome. It was the first PC game that I have ever played and it is still one of my favorite. I still can't beat level 20 but the gameplay/reflexes and music is just awesome.
It is your typical Gradius style game, except you're shooting up. Very classic, and should be enjoyed by everyone. You can shoot with your typical attack or you can choose to use lasers, asteroids etc, etc. Just try to keep alive.
Every 6 levels are asteroid levels, therefore, I highly recommend using at least one laser in that it can shoot the asteroids and save your butt in many situations.
Also, all the bosses that you see in the first and second level ARE killable, but just watch out for the Angus when you have the asteroid shield because he'll suck it right up.
Most of the fights are pretty predictable but they're definitely kick ass to play. Most of the time things will come at you in a snake pattern and you can just camp one corner of your screen to entirely wipe it out. Other times things just kind of pop out and do dive attacks. That’ why you just gotta rely on your reflexes and keep moving side to side, but never stop firing.
Once you get the auto-aim attack, everything gets super easy. For big boss fights that doesn't

require you to move around too much, use the laser cannon. Yes, it only fires straight, but it packs hit probably 10-fold as much damage as the weak auto shot.
About the last boss, I really don't know what to do against him. He fires lasers and it’s almost impossible to manoeuvre thru his tiny shots. I can't dodge his shots and I can't survive any hits so what can I do? He's a big giant robot and his only weak spot is his center. I've tried lasers, I've tried everything possible against this guy and I have no indication whatsoever whether he's getting hurt. Honestly, if someone knows how to fight this guy, I'd be really appreciate it if they would say how, because to me, he's impossible.
Anyway, I highly recommend this not for just nostalgic reasons, but come on it’s a classic! It came out in a time when arcade games were everything and apples were churning out crappy macintoshs!

A decent first person shooter. Your typical go-around-blowing-things-up game. This game has alright graphics and gameplay, but the sound isn't really of a very good standard, it tends to get annoying after a while. Overall though, it's a pretty good game.
