This game is an excellent addition to the Spidey legacy in gaming history. Both Spider-man and Captain America fans alike are sure to enjoy this DOS classic.
For its time, the graphics are amazing, the gameplay is entertaining, and the controls are simple to learn. Even children about the age of 5 could get these controls licked in 15 minutes. The enemies that you may come across in this adventure/arcade style game are numerous and present a fair challenge. The storyline is firm, and is very simple to get.

The enemies that you may come across in this adventure/arcade style game are numerous and present a fair challenge. The storyline is firm, and is very simple to get...Dr. Doom has a nuke, and threatens to destroy New York...and you have to stop him. Though this is not a very fresh story, it’s given a new spark by throwing Captain America and Spidey together. I did find this interesting,
having not heard of Capt. America and Spiderman teaming up before.
In this game, Spider-man is given justice in his abilities, however, I feel that he could have been a little more powerful in his strength behind his punches. And his defences were a little underwhelming as well. His health depletes far too easily.
Captain America on the other hand has too much power, but too little health. Foes that Spider-man is know to grapple with, face Captain America, and vice versa.
As an avid comic fan, I found this unusual, but refreshing. Although I myself never actually beat the game, anyone with the patience to face all those waves of robots, super villains and all their sorts of bad do-ers, deserves to face of against Doctor Doom himself. A fight which is sure to be as much of a challenge and pain as the bosses in today’s games.
My only question is...what caused Dr. Doom to want revenge? And why doesn't the Fantastic Four stop him? Although these are pithy questions from nit picking comic fan, this game needs no previous comic knowledge to make it enjoyable.
All in all, I'd give this game 7 out of 10. A much well deserved score indeed. The only possible thing I could imagine that would make this game any better is if the teams at EA would remake this title for today’s generation of gamers. Perhaps in the future, a possible Spidey/ Captain America game would be released to blow this one away. I digress...if you’re a big fan of the comics, then this game is for you. Very good.
