This is a great game! It was the first game I ever player in my 286 PC!!
The graphics of this game are just great and I would say that they give you the sense that you are in medieval times, in a land where magic and faeries still exist. Of course when I say great graphics, I mean in comparison with other games of this period. Stormlord is a 2-D game and our hero moves left n right (he can also jump)
The goal in each stage of this game is to release all the faeries that are trapped in bubbles. This might sound easy but it is not! First of all these is a time limit which you must not exceed. Second and most important, you encounter
opponents in your way. Opponents range from (almost harmless) worms to bees (which cannot be killed). To make things worse, some faeries seem to be in places that our hero cannot access.
Well having said all that let's look at the bright side of life! There’re some rocks with a skeleton drawing on them, when you stay on these rocks, an eagle comes and moves you around, this eagle may take you to places which didn't seem initially accessible. And also do not worry that much about the bees, they cannot be killed but as we all know they love honey, so just have some honey with you and exchange it with something near the bees, they move towards the honey and thus they will leave you alone. Another point that should be mentioned is that whenever you see a key, get it, as a faery might be trapped behind a door which cannot be opened unless you have the key.
But as I said this is not an easy game, all the difficulties/solutions I mentioned concern just the first stage! e.g. in the second stage you can also fall into fire and burn.
When I was playing the game, I found that the crucial thing to find at each stage is the correct order in which the "teleporting" eagles should be used. Remember in this game you play under a time restriction at each stage so if you pick the "wrong" eagle at the wrong time, you will most probably be unable to complete the stage within the time limits.
I can warmly recommend this game and I consider it to be in the same class with other great arcade games, like Golden Axe, even if it probably less known to the majority of players.
