Street fighter 2 is one of those games that captured the imagination of a whole generation. Ask any one between the age of about 23 and 35 what was your favourite game as a kid and they will probably name street fighter two as the game they were most into.
This is a straight from arcade to computer copy of the game with almost nothing lost from the arcade. A follow up to the original street fighter game which featured just Ken and Ryu, street fighter 2 was more a brand new original concept than a follow up game.

A follow up to the original street fighter game which featured just Ken and Ryu, street fighter 2 was more a brand new original concept than a follow up game. The graphics while cartoonish compared to later games such as mortal combat and others of the same genre were very good for the time and perfect for the style
of gameplay. All the favourite characters are here like dahlsim, ken, guile, ryu, chun li and the rest of the gang.
Game control were simple but effective you had your strong middle and fast punch attack buttons and also strong middle and fast kick attack buttons although on most console formats you had to press a button like select to change from punches to kicks as the pads of the day didn’t have the 6 attack buttons the arcade had. These punches and kick attacks could be linked together to unleash devastating combos on your opponents.
Then of course each character had their own magic, or special moves. Also there was no finishing moves in this game no fatalities as such, like in the mortal combat games, these special moves could be so devastating that 1 or 2 landed cleanly could win you the match. With a perfect to block you just had to pull back on the joystick/pad and pick the right time to counter. This was the definitive beat them up game of its time. Packed with little extras like the level where you have to smash up a car with only your hands and feet. This all made it highly addictive and totally unforgettable even almost 20 yrs on from the release this game is still fresh and addictive probably more so than any of the follow ups that came after in the street fighter series.
