Supaplex is a cute little time-consuming puzzle game in which you play a small red orb. The setting in this game was naturally a circuit board within a computer riddled with strange heavy rocks. As Supaplex you run rampant throughout a computer's circuit board eating as much of it as possible. There are special multicolored portions (infotrons) that you must consume in order to open an exit door that will lead you to the next level as well as many obstacles and simple mind boggling puzzles on each level that you must over come.
There are electric jolts, spiky walls, crushing rocks and many other inanimate objects that just want to blow you up.
For a simple, yet extremely creative, open-world pac-man clone, one can truly admire the amount of logic and thinking required in the game’s later levels as gravity plays its part with falling rocks as you try to nab as many of these multi-colored goodies as possible.
You are given the list of levels for supaplex right off of the bat as well as a few "Skip Levels" which must otherwise be earned by high scores in game. Bonus points are awarded for eating floppy disks, resistors and other things of that nature. There are switches that must be toggled and mazes to be navigated and scissors
(enemies) to avoid as well.
This classic game is one that is quite easy to learn but so very difficult to master. Fortunately for those of us who have not attained a genius IQ before, there are published solutions to the levels in supaplex all over the internet. You may even download bitmap screenshots of all of the levels now to plan out how you handle the challenge. Not only this, but if you manage to complete all 111 levels that come with the game there are even more that you can download! (Which of course come with their own solutions.)
All in all Supaplex is an excellent game for toddler and adult alike. I grew up with this game and others such as Armor Alley and Jill of the Jungle, and they taught me how to use the computer, solve problems, and improve my reflexes. The makers of Supaplex also suggest Igor - The Time Machine! If you enjoy Supaplex.
