This game is reminiscent of Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is modeled after the hugely popular Mario Brothers 3, with the graphical and speed upgrades provided by the new system. It was one of the first games to feature an independently moving background that scrolled at a different rate from the movement of the character.
Gameplay is also similar to that of Mario 3. After each level, the player will get to navigate around a map (on a pre-determined path) and select his or her new lever.
There are many secret levels, side quests, and alternate routes to complete in order to achieve 100% completion of the game. As with the previous Mario Brother's games, this game has 8 levels or stages to complete. Again, you must rescue Princess Peach from the clutches of the evil Bowser.
This game follows the typical Mario Brothers formula. Powerups include the classic mushroom, fire flower, and invincible star man. New to the game are the feather - which allows Mario to fly across the screen, and Yoshi's egg. Finding Yoshi's egg allows Mario to ride his pet dinosaur. Yoshi can eat enemies that Mario would not normally be able to jump on. He can also eat fruit that is scattered throughout each
level. However, once Yoshi is hit, Mario will jump off and have to chase the dinosaur across the screen. Also new to this game is the ability to store an item (which is displayed in the box in the center of the top of the screen). At any time during the level, the player can drop this item to change his or hew power up. It is also helpful, because if the player loses a powerup (by getting hit or taking damage from an enemy), this extra item will help him.
This game was fun to play. The graphics are very eye catching and make the game all the more fun. This game will take approximately 20 hours to complete. As I said before there are multiple routes to achieve completion. The bosses in this game are somewhat easy. Mario can usually defeat them by picking up one of the many turtles or mini-Koopas laying around the world and throwing it at them. The final boss is defeated by throwing mini-Koopas into his space ship. Once he is defeated you have beat the game! Try this game. You’ll like it.
