SWIV 3D is an action simulation that takes place in the third year of the civil war. You will be taking the part of a former military person. You no longer want to be in combat, but the only way to get out is by being discharged. After your hometown was attacked you are using some top-secret assault vehicles to teach them a lesson.
The game is a single player. You are able to take on several pilots each game. All your pilots’ stats will be stored. This makes it that other people are able to play this game as well. There are five different levels each consisting of up to eight missions. There are a total of twenty-five missions to complete the game.
You will begin the game as a rookie in the Temperate Zone. In the Temperate Zone there are mountains, valleys and streams. The other zones that you will see are the Arctic, Lunar, Martian and Alien, each zone being more unique then the next.
There are two types of weapons available. The first weapon doesn’t do too much damage other than to the trees and empty buildings. You will need the special weapons to take out your enemies. Some of the special weapons consist of missiles and bombs. You will find these weapons throughout each terrain, just like the power ups.
Throughout the game you will have use of a few land and airborne vehicles. Depending on the zone you are in you will either have land vehicles or air. At the beginning of each mission you will begin with a certain vehicle. There are a few missions where you will be using that vehicle throughout the entire mission. Other missions will have stations where you can switch to a different vehicle. The land vehicles have basic controls and limited power so it is hard to get over high hills. It is best to use in the valleys. The airborne vehicles use the same controls the land-based vehicles use. There is an automatic altitude adjustment with the airborne vehicles so you may not have to lift to get over higher mountains. The airborne vehicles to have a better chance in battle then the land based vehicles.
The game is viewed as a top down view over your vehicle. There is information around your screen like the radar/compass. This shows the nearby enemies weapons, targets, power ups and the direction of the nearest objective. There is also your health, your mission score for what one you are currently working on, and the special weapons you have available at the time. The graphics and detail have been well done, even though it would have been better having the view in a first person perspective.
Overall, SWIV 3D is a great action simulation. It is easy enough for all ages and levels of difficulty. If you have enjoyed action simulation games in the past and could use a little something different this game would be great. It isn’t as similar to most of the action simulations created in the past, with the different view and a little more detail then many; this game does top the charts. SWIV 3D is a phenomenal shooter game!
