If you are looking out for a challenging game, you should give ‘Tintin in Tibet’ a go. First released in 1995 on the Sega Genesis, “Tintin in Tibet” is easily one of the hardest games out there. It is a 2D adventure game where you play as Tintin. It follows the story in French author Herge’s comic book, “Tintin in Tibet”. The story in the game stays true to that of the comic book. The story is told in a number of short cut-scenes throughout the game.
The art work is similar to that of the comics. The game uses various scenes from the comic book. The sound effects are pretty ordinary, even for a Sega game.
The gameplay is similar to the legendary Prince of Persia game on Sega. It’s not half as exciting though. The controls are simple like Prince of Persia, but differ from level to level. In most levels you will have to walk through a 2D environment and dodge several obstacles by either ducking or jumping. You will have to play each level several times in order to be able to complete it without losing a life. There is also a time limit in which you have to complete all the levels.
The game is hard enough without the time limit. It requires a lot of patience to complete a level, as most of the time you will be waiting for the right moment to dodge an obstacle. However, you might lose your patience when you run out of time to complete the game.
When you lose all your lives you will have to replay the game from the beginning. However, you obtain a 3 digit password (if you complete a certain number of levels) that can be used to restart the game from that point.
You will have to replay the game several times in order to be able to finish it. If you are someone who easily gets frustrated, then I do not recommend this game for you. This isn’t a game that you can easily stroll through. Do not expect to make much progress in one sitting. It take ages to master this game as each level is unique and takes a while to get used to. It took me around ten years to finish this game.
This game is mainly for true fans of the classic Tintin books. This game will be rewarding for those who are seeking for a challenge. Give it a pass if you do not have the patience or time to finish it.
