What can be said about Wacky Funsters that hasn’t been said about every other early nineties compilation game? Well, let’s find out, shall we? Wacky Funsters was both published and developed by Tsunami Media Incorporated, so that is one thing. It was a 1992 release for only the personal computer running the MS-DOS operating system. It switched the view back and forth from the first person perspective to the third person perspective, which made it sort of interesting. The games really were varied and didn’t have much to do with each other at all.
There are five min games in Wacky Funsters that the gamer can play. Big Guys With Muscles is a simple fighting game that is easy and fun. The weapons are definitely not part of the main stream and the moves are a lot more funny than they are furious. This is probably the best of the five games, in my opinion. Rambi is also pretty good and it is a combination of Rambo and Bambi. Roadkill is a Frogger knockoff and is also pretty good. Ping and Steroid are puzzle or strategy games, kind of like Pong and Asteroids, and were my least favorites. They were still good, but not the
sort of thing that I like. One thing was for sure, all of the games had silly characters and good looks to them, making them a lot of fun for the right gamer.
Between the games, you can visit the king for instructions and funny interactions. The point of Wacky Funsters is more about humor than it is game play, so the gamer really should not skip these funny cuts. They are pretty humorous. The characters in each one of the games has some big issue that makes them funny. Either their looks are clever and exaggerated or, like in Big Guys With Muscles, the action itself is off the wall. For example, one of the big bad guys is a the character’s third grade teacher. Wacky Funsters offers a mixed bag of tricks and should have something for everyone to play. It has a sequel called Geekwad Games of the Galaxy that presents a series of games in a really similar manner.
So in the short run, I recommend Wacky Funsters to anyone who is looking to break up their day. It has some short term fun plays, but since there are five of them, you can skip around to make sure that you keep entertaining yourself. Watching the metamorphosis of the king is also pretty cool and good for some laughs, which is really what Wacky Funsters is all about.
