Genre:  Board Games    |     Year: 1991    |     Publisher: unknown     |     Developer: unknown
Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 02/02/2008
This game is a new inventive way of playing chess. Gamers will get the needed battle experience that they have grown to love over the years.
When the game was designed there was thirty-five different animations created for several different things. They were utilized for movements of your players, the prelude into battle, and some were even utilized for the battles as well. The fights that have been placed in can be quite thrilling and amusing. The players will get to have a new interesting view of chess but still get the game they’ve grown to love.

If you feel the need you can play the game in a two-dimensional format and not have any of the animation. This is perfect for

the players who just want to play a casual game of chess without all the bells and whistles. Not every player enjoys the over animated games so with the addition of the simplistic way of playing chess Battle Chess can suit many different gamers.
Take on one of your friends with the ability to play against a human opponent. This can be done on one computer, through modem, or your local area network. With this game being able to be played online you can play any random person and gain some experience on moves and how skilled you will get at the game. You can also take on the computer who has been designed with an artificial intelligence. The computer can be a bit difficult when you first start playing, but once you get the hang of things you’ll see dusty men being destroyed all across the board.
Now here is the one downside of Battle Chess. You will be unable to rotate the board making it that you can not have alternate views of various battle combinations that are taking place. If you were able to view the game in several different viewpoints it would have been a bigger hit.
Battle Chess is a great innovation on new ways to see chess. When playing the board game of chess it would have been amazing to see your players to whip out some swords and destroy each other. Well since you can’t experience that on the board do it on your computer. Take part in the new age of chess and become another person who enjoys playing Battle Chess. Watching your pieces destroying your enemy is quite satisfying.
