Game Review (written by Darkarsinist) Added on: 12/03/2006
Chess is a rather interesting game once you know how to play. It has difficulties for both the beginner and the veteran, so don’t worry if you aren’t the greatest you can still have a chance to prevail and get better. I found it to be quite entertaining at times because there were many times when the game would get really interesting and there was thinking involved.
Chess isn’t hard to learn but most people think it is mainly because they refer chess to checkers and checkers is a lot easier to play.
In chess the objective is to capture the enemy king while protecting your own. Each piece has a specific job and amount of spaces that it can move. The king can move in any direction by one space. The queen can move in any direction and as far as she wants to, the queen is the most important piece other than the king so losing her early on in the game can be a problem and will significantly lessen your chances of winning. The rook can be moved as far as you want in a vertical or horizontal line. The bishop can only be moved diagonally but still as far as you want. The knight is interesting because it has

to move in a “L” Shape, but that is limited to three spaces. Finally the pawn can move one space forward only unless it is that pawn’s first move then it can be two spaces.
The pawn is the weakest piece in the game however, if it reaches the other side of the board then it can become any piece of the players choosing, which in most cases is the queen since it is the best piece in the game.
At first when I started playing the game I was skeptical that the game would be any good or be able to prove a challenge for me but after playing the game I was surprised to see that it could become quite hard at times. I thought the game was to teach you how to play chess and would be easy to play but I soon found out after trying some of the harder difficulties that I was wrong. The first time I played the game I played it for about six hours nonstop. The first few games were easy but on the harder difficulties the play can become really challenging. All in all I would say the game would be great fun for the beginning players of chess and the veterans of chess who are looking to improve their skills or who are just looking to have some fun.

One of the more typical games of online chess. This chess is easy and comprehensive for the beginner, but challenging enough for the expert. There are only a few skills and levels to learn. Overall, it is a simple and interesting game.
