Game Review (written by Lindsay2) Added on: 11/29/2007
Bible Builder is an educational game that is for both children and adults of all ages. It is a Christian DOS game by Everbright Software and came out in 1992. It is a trivia game where you have to answer multiple choice questions based on both the old and new testaments of the bible.
The games questions vary both in topics and difficulty. To start off with, there are three topics that the questions are based on. You have geographical questions, like where certain events of the bible took place. You have the basic concepts questions like what did God create on day five or day six. You also have questions based on popular hymns where you have to identify the hymn by listening to a small fragment and trying to identify which one it is. After you have answered each question correctly, you are given a small piece of verse from the bible. When you have enough verses, you have to put them together and in the proper order and create the full bible verse and then you must correctly identify where the verse is from in the bible. There is a narrator/guide in the game that you can also see. It is a very cute cherubim angel and his lips move right along with the story. This cherubim also will take your completed verses over to the left side of the screen.
This game is very well based on the bible and it is your job to “build” the bible from the questions you answer and the verses that you put together. If you have never read the bible, then this is the perfect starter for you to start learning. If you have read the bible, then this game is a great way to test your knowledge. It is also a great tool for children and adults alike to use as a study guide as you are learning the bible. It does not really take the place of Sunday school or going to church, but it does make a great study guide. The graphics are very clear and depict the pictures that you would find in children’s bibles very well. It also is very easy to read and will help your child to learn how to read because it is very understandable when put on the level of easy. If I had to pick this as an educational game for my children, I would definitely pick it and show them how to play and even play along with them. It is very easy to get caught up in playing this game because it has a very good story line, which I like and would not mind letting my children get engrossed in this video game.
