Game Review (written by Lap819) Added on: 02/02/2007
This game is really good for kids learning math, whether it be multiplication, subtraction, addition, or division. I remember playing this game, Math Blasters Plus! when I was much younger with my sisters. It's a fun game, although the graphics aren't as good as I remember them to be. It is still easy to see and everything but the graphics is as to be expected, seeing as it is a somewhat old game. It has four main sections, including the Trash Zapper, the Garbage Zapper, one game where you have to add and subtract and divide and multiply and then fly into the air to find that answer, etc.
The math is relatively simple and easy for a kid to do. I believe that this would be very helpful and fun for a young girl or boy learning these techniques. The characters are friendly and fun and good for this game. The theme is outer space and it is reinforced throughout the game. The Math Blasters are in space and every time you get a math problem right, it leads towards something else. The graphics, again, aren't the best they could be but I do not believe that it takes away from the mathematics of the program.
The point still gets across to whoever is playing it and I believe that that is all that matters. It is still a colourful game and every object is recognizable. Not much else can be expected from something that came from this period of early computer technology. I believe it is a very good game and that every kid should play it. They should probably make an updated version, which I somewhat remember playing, though I could be thinking of a different game with a similar theme.
This game is one of the only and one of the strongest that I can remember playing as a child and I think my parents made a good choice in allowing me to play it. The different games within the program gives a lot of opportunities for kids learning to learn multiplication division addition and subtraction in different surroundings, as opposed to forcing the same thing on them over and over again like many other programs do. These different games allow the same idea to be reinforced in a fun way because the kids can experiment with all the different ones. I definitely recommend this program to any kid learning how to do math.

Acroutha (01/16/2008) A fun approach for having children master basic math skills. I remember playing this game when I was younger, and am now looking into its application in the classroom. Children like active participation games, so why not make math a little more fun and have some purpose besides the ability to do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with automaticity. |
