The Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? DeLuxe edition is a better version of the original Where in the World is Carmen San Diego. Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? is a successful game that has spawned many other versions aside from the Deluxe. The game was released in 1990 by Broderbund Software. The game is considered an educational game.
For those who have not played this game before, the game play is pretty simple: You will be playing the role of an investigator who has to solve different cases.
To solve a case, you must travel all around the world by following clues. To get your clues, you will be questioning witnesses and you can also study the different evidences related to the case.
If you are stumped, you can call the Crime Net and the Crime Net will provide you with the additional information about the suspects. You can also get more information from informants such as Vinnie the Squealer and Bart Samson. You can check the files of the suspects and once you are certain who the criminal and where he is, you can have the warrant of arrest processed and arrest the criminal.
You will start as a rookie but as you go on with the game and as you solve more cases, you will become
promoted to higher positions.
This is a fantastic version of the game with high-resolution graphics and more locations. The game has many interesting locations that include Baghdad, Manila, Tokyo, New Delhi, San Francisco and Singapore and so much more. The music was also better, because it featured sound effects that were completely appropriate to the setting. Unlike the earlier version of the game, the DeLuxe edition featured spoken dialogues although some of the clues are still given as text.
This is an awesome game because it is both educational (you learn about world geography as you play the game) and a strategy game. More than quick reflexes, you need quick wits to do well in this game.
It’s a fun game that is violence-free so the whole family can play it. It can be played by both young players and adults and it can be quite addictive for both. I first chanced upon this game in the mid-90s and I forgot about it for a while but then I rediscovered it again fairly recently and the game still holds the same entertainment value for me. This is a highly recommended game that is worth keeping in the hard drive.
