Game Review (written by Kanuvan1586) Added on: 05/28/2007
Zoo Keeper is a game similar to gemstone. You will go through selecting the animals (two at a time) making them switch positions. Once done, they switch and if the switch puts a animal into a group of three, they dissipater and a new set of three fill in from the top keeping the game moving. But be careful because there is a time limit which if expired the game is over for that time.
But it does give a good notice that the time is going to expire by making a loud "romping" sound. The game is pretty simple when looking at the whole picture but when moving level to level, the time keeps getting faster and faster which makes the game more and more challenging. The way you move from level to level is to clear a certain number of three some animal groups. Once completed all the animals clear from the screen and a new game board is shown also showing the amount and kinds of animals needed to move to the next level. The board is an eight by eight square containing sixty four animal heads. However there is a special animal head that cycles through all the animal choices and when switched with another, it stops cycling and all the animals that are the same with it disappear from the board making the game so very much easier.
The nice thing about this game is that as the three some is combined and disappears, the pieces that fall into the screen might make the required three some and disappear as well causing a chain reaction of three some combinations. With these chain reactions, the points given get greater and greater for each combination caused by that single animal switch. The game however is a Chinese or Japanese game so after you loose, there is a man with a ruler pointing at you talking in the Chinese or Japanese language but there is no understanding of what he is saying. The nice thing though also about the game is that there is a pause button which gives you time to rest between levels. It does though have a nice sound file to it that plays through the game play.
It keeps the game moving and pace moving because you do not want to run out of time so the music is a nice touch for the game. I would recommend zoo keeper to children of all ages however I think that it would be one for the younger children. ENJOY!
