Champion Manager Norge is a Domark Software publication that was researched and designed by Sports Interactive Limited in the middle nineties. It was primarily intended for the DOS format, but was also available for the Amiga, as well. It is a managerial style of sports game that centers around European rules football, otherwise known as soccer or footie. It was the successor to a previous title. Technically, Championship Manager Norge is the same game as the second Championship Manager game (CM2), but the entire game is done in the Norwegian language.
This obviously limits its audience considerably, since it is a statistic based program and the user needs to read a lot of text in order to be successful with this program. Aside from the language difference, the two games are essentially identical.
For the Norwegian soccer fans in the gaming crowd, Championship Manager Norge is a good game. As mentioned above, there are absolutely no graphics in this game, and it consists entirely of tables, graphs and informational text. There is a running dialogue that will reveal to the user what is happening in each individual match up. Other information is thrown at you in large text boxes or scrolling blurbs. It is, nonetheless, surprisingly addictive in play and will challenge
the footie fanatic to the utmost level, despite being largely mouse and menu driven.
Championship Manager Norge is a simulation game of owning one’s own soccer franchise. The game is a fully licensed title and contains all of the famous and nearly famous soccer stars from the nineties, encompassing many different countries. The overall goal of the game is to wheel and deal and use your wits to create the ultimate soccer line up and win a championship with your team. You can modify your team however you see fit, and can also select the tactics that will become the mainstream of the team’s play…coach-like.
The original game began with only the English and Scottish leagues available, but add-ons can be used to offer the player a choice of other European leagues, such as the Belgian, Dutch, French, German and Italian leagues.
Overall, this is a good game that is only hindered to all gamers by the fact that the language is quite exclusive. For Norwegian soccer fans, however, this is a top of the line classic footie simulation/management game that will be challenging and fun.
