Game Review (written by Cold_fusion) Added on: 02/14/2007
Falcon Beertender is a progressive and addictive "fill-em-up" game where you play the lonely bartender with the task of serving the beers to the ever-thirsty drinkers in your bar. Tap the space-bar and send a drink flying down the bar - but be warned: you can't break any of the beer mugs (one drink to a person!) or let a customer reach the end of the bar with their thirst unquenched! Nor can you forget to pick up the empties...
You'll start with only a few customers, who you'll serve drinks for. While they are drinking they walk backwards away from the bar, slurping on your bar's good ale. However, be warned that the people that come to this bar are nothing short of drinking legends and they finish their beers in a single chug! Soon the glasses you served so fast will be coming back at you just as fast, and you have to send a new full one back straight at them to get them to walk out of your bar completely, or you'll soon have hoards of thirsty customers slowly advancing on you.
In the early stages the game is very tame, but as you get to the later stages you'll find the barrage full and empty glasses make your finger blur on the keyboard - you really need stamina to get past those later levels. You need good timing and you need to be progressively quicker as special occasions come round, filling your bar with extremely thirsty Swedes. Your bar-room life will start off slow with an extra drinker added per level, soon you'll be tapping out the pints like a octopus card dealer.
When you hit your speed limit (probably when you get to 16 or more drinkers) you'll really feel the challenge of this game, as your poor character races up and down the 4 bars. Mysteriously, he is quite capable of teleportation from the bottom of the screen to the top, so you you can move from bar4 to bar1 instantly, by pressing down. However, this is not all that mysterious as the game would be quite impossible in the later levels to complete.
So, it's fast, it's furious, it's addictive and it's got alcohol in it! What more could you possibly want? You can play this all day long, and wake up sweating over the thunk that the broken glass makes. This game also comes nicely windowed, making it an excellent activity while multi-tasking, and easily should join the list of Minesweeper, Solitare and Pinball on your list of time-eating games.
