Game Review (written by Shannon) Added on: 11/16/2007
Pandora Crisis, Dragonball Z, and Doraemon have all influenced the characters of Fighters Kyodotai, also known as Fighters Kototai. Straight out of Japanese manga and anime animations, FK offers a great selection of characters in a traditional street fighting style of game. There are also many original characters, each one having his or her own unique set of skills, fighting moves, and deadly special attacks. The fights are chaotic, frantic and very fast-paced. Play is smooth enough and control good enough to allow for numerous combos to demolish your opponents.
Fighters Kyodotai offers both single and multiplayer features, allowing you to beat up on your friends or tackle the challenging computer brawlers. Many of them will frustrate novice fight gamers, and will likely frustrate veterans until the controls are mastered. The computer enemies are very well animated and very well programmed to use their own unique moves against you quite effectively. Without a doubt, they will present a challenge to even the most serious street fighter. The game only has a single difficulty setting, so regardless of your gaming experience, you are resigned to your fate, whether you are an expert or beginner.
The user interface is exactly what gamers have come to expect out of the street fighting style of game. There is a power gauge plainly visible on the screen that tells you at what level you are able to attack your opponent. There are three levels of attack, based upon available power, and each one comes with explosive and devastating graphic displays. The backgrounds for each individual fight scene are unique and well-designed.
Overall, the game play is smooth and the controls are easy enough to master with a little practice. The vast number of possible heroes allows for superb replayability. The drawbacks involve the pixilated look when played on too large of a screen. A smaller window shows, however, excellent animated graphics for a freeware game. The sound effects are great and the background music lends nicely to the rapid fight pace. One thing to note, this game is not made for young children. Aside from the graphic violent nature of the game, there is also animated, but very realistic, nudity.
