IQ test is a just like it says...an IQ test. This game is included in the non English section, as it should be (I think it's in Dutch). But don't let that discourage you. You don't have to read anything to make it through the game. It's all just pictures. Just press "J" at the menu screen to start the test (I guess J means "yes" in Dutch).
The concept of the game is simple. For each question, you are presented with a series of pictures, making a pattern.
It starts of in the upper left hand corner, and makes it's way to the lower right hand corner, where there is a blank box. Below the pattern are choices of different patterns. The idea is to pick the picture that completes the pattern to fill in the series (just press the number below the choice to want to select it; pretty easy).
The programming on this game is excellent. No bugs, no problems. It's very simple and user friendly for everyone.
The test is laid out quite well. There are around 100 questions. They start very simple to just warm you up, but by the end it is very difficult to determine the patterns. I also believe there is a timer,
so the faster you go, the better your score.
At the end, it will give you your IQ. I'm not so sure it's all that accurate, but it's still a fun little puzzle game to play.
There's music with it, but it's rather annoying, and doesn't add anything to the game (makes a little distracting, actually).
The graphics are typical of early 90s DOS games. It's black and white, with lines, circles, dots, shapes, etc. Nothing to really please the eye. But then again, it's an IQ test, so who really cares.
The only thing bad about this game is the replay ability. Once you've taken the test, you can't really take it again and get an accurate score. Unless you really want to go back and figure out each pattern, it's really a one and done type of thing. I also wish it would tell you the answers, because you're never sure which ones you got right and which you got wrong.
Again, not a bad game, if you're looking to kill half an hour and want to give your brain a workout. And it's playable no matter what language you speak. But if you're looking for a masterpiece, this isn't it. Enjoy.
