Game Review (written by Spamkid) Added on: 10/16/2006
Those not familiar with the game show that ran from August 25, 1958 to March 23, 1973 and again from September 10, 1973 to September 8, 1978 might be a little confused on the premise of the game. Classic Concentration is essentially a glorified memory game enhanced with end of the round rebus puzzles and a final speed round; this game personifies what is great about many classic games: simplicity.
The game show itself was very simple and basic, the execution was the same. Anyone who enjoys memory puzzles or simple classic games would do well to download this title. The game play is essentially the same as the previous version, with the improvements being made primarily to the graphics and an increase in the number of solvable rebuses.
The game starts with a basic “yes” or “no” interface asking if you are a returning champion and allowing you to choose from about ten different game characters. After selecting your character and allowing the computer to do the same (there is also a multiple player option) you are shown a puzzle with 25 squares, one square is removed (in order to make the amount of tiles even) and the game play begins, the player selects two tiles, if they match the player is given an option to solve the puzzle and then is allowed to continue to try to find more matches until they reveal two mismatching tiles. Rather than matching basic pictures the tiles have prizes underneath them, when they are matched, the prizes are added behind the player. In addition to the various prizes there are two wild cards on the board (if the two wild cards are matched the player receives a $500 bonus in addition to a free match).
After the on one matching rounds the winner goes on to a speed round where the winner has to match 14 cars in 45 seconds or less, with the last car matched being the car that is “won”. The value of the car is added to the value of the prizes matched in the first round, and the person is put on the wall of champs.
All things considered this game are solid, no major bugs or errors. The one knock I have against it is that there is no misspelling allowed when solving the puzzles, I have played games of similar age which offered some semblance of spelling forgiveness and that really is all that I have to say against the title. Otherwise this is a solid puzzle game.

Rudeboykev (04/14/2008) Classic Concentration was a game show from the late 80s/early 90s based on the original Concentration game show from the '70s. "Classic Concentration" was the same as the original TV series, but more luxurious prizes were offered. (10/23/2006) Looks like a puzzle game where you take part in some sort of memory game and you compete against another player. |
