Game Review (written by Erimas) Added on: 05/19/2007
Press Your Luck is a computer game that is like the tv show that was on in the 1980's. There is also a new version of the show on now, called WHammy! Both of these shows can be seen on the Game Show Network. The game itself is quite easy... you answer general knowledge type questions to earn "spins".
You compete with 2 other players to earn these spins. Spins are awarded for correct ring-in answers or for correct multiple choice type answers.
Then you use these spins in the next round, where you look at a big board that has all different kinds of prizes on it, like money, trips, furniture, jewellery, boats, exercise equipment, and so on. You spin as many times as you would like based on how many spins you won in the question round. You may land on any of the said prizes, or there is also a space that everyone would like to get called, big bucks that is worth thousands of dollars! You may also pass the rest of your spins to other players if you don't want to risk what you have accumulated so far.
There are also spaces that have free spins, and there are spaces that have the dreaded whammy. If you hit a whammy, you lose everything that you have accumulated so far. You can not hit more that 4 whammies in a game or you are out of the game for good. It becomes a matter of are you willing to take the risk and press your luck, or are you going to play conservatively and stop? Are you going to pass the rest of your spins and hope that the other players don't beat you? You win the game by accumulating the most money of all the three players. You are the only person who gets to keep your prizes.
This game is a fun timewaster that is really good for the risk takers in the crowd. The graphics are good and it is a high energy type of game. It is especially good for those people who watched it back in the 80's and played along at home! The new show, Whammy!, is even more exciting as the prizes are bigger, the big board has been updated and the board also has double whammies that drop random things on the players heads if they land on those spots, like popcorn or silly string type of stuff. Too funny! I encourage you to try this game if you want to have some fast-paced fun and try to beat the whammy. Enjoy!
