Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 11/25/2007
Welltris is a great arcade game that is a spin off of Tetris. This game is a bit different then Tetris because it isn’t designed in 3D. Instead of the pieces falling down from the top like it does in Tetris, the pieces will be coming down from all sides. They will slide across the bottom of the screen till they’ve hit another piece or the opposite wall. To move these pieces you will require the use of your numeric keypad.
When the pieces are no longer capable of sliding on the bottom the wall will begin to flash red.
Eventually it will go back to normal. If every single wall is red then you’ve lost the game and will see a comical picture of a Russian family celebrating. You must attempt forming all the pieces in the bottom into solid rows horizontally or vertically, whichever way you are capable of doing at the time.
Welltris is actually a very difficult game to start off. Once you have determined how the game goes and what are the best moves to make the game will become far easier.
There are three different difficulty levels to accompany this already difficult game. Each level of difficult has five different speeds. The further along in the game you get you will notice the changes in speed quite quickly. With the added speed changes along with already difficult game itself you may find this game to be very challenging. The great part though is that it is just as addicting as Tetris was. You want to master the game to be able to say you have and then continue playing for long periods of time to see how far along in the game you can get before you see the four walls of death.
Welltris is by far a great reinvention of Tetris. With the very noticeable changes that have been done you will want to attempt this game just to say you’ve tried it. With this game being similar to Tetris you right off the bat know you’ll get addicted because everyone knows they’ve been addicted to Tetris at least once in their life and now will soon be addicted to Welltris as well. This game is phenomenal in the way it’s been designed. With more area to place your pieces, you soon won’t know what wall to put them on and continue playing till you’ve defeated everything. Welltris is a great game in so many ways that everyone should at least try it once in their lifetime.
