This game was one of the most enjoyable games of yesteryear. I especially enjoy its use of the RoleMasters system, both in character creation as well as progression. Rolemasters is a percentage based knockoff of DnD rules, and is executed extremely well, and its presence allows for a little bit of flashback because the company that created Rolemasters has since parted ways with the business world, so it isn't readily available any longer. The story line is fluid and enjoyable, and I always find the replay ability high, thanks to the ability for 3 party members to be your own creation.
I only wish parts II and III were released, so that I could enjoy the continuing stories of the game that I felt were soon to come.
Graphics aren’t spectacular, but it's an old DOS game, so I don't complain.
The level of difficulty is relatively high, and the casual gamer may become frustrated. However if you take your time to truly get into it, you will certainly be glad you spent the time to do so.
The amount of monsters you will face is in the hundreds, it's truly unique combat system is thoroughly enjoyable to all who delve into it.
Though cliche at points, the storyline is aided by the extremely unique system of play. You start by creating you hero and his friend,
and two henchmen. You must then save your father in typical RPG fashion. One must understand this game does have a learning curve, so be prepared to die many a time before getting used to it, but once you do, I can wholeheartedly guarantee you will be glad you put in the effort to get better at the game.
In closing, I recommend this game to any RPG fan, provided they are willing to work to learn, and they seek an innovative and enjoyable interface with an intuitive combat interface and fresh system setup. It is also a great way to look back on the DnD spinoffs of yesteryear, especially an enjoyable one no longer available by any conventional means. In closing, I would safely reward this game with 9.5 out of 10, and heartily recommend it to all. Definitely a good download, and certainly an amazing RPG.
