Based upon the AD&D system, Champions of Krynn is indeed old on the shelves but still a must for hardcore RPG fans. I used to play Champions of Krynn when I was very young. I can't say I understood everything at that time, but I can still recall the funny stuff like the Kender's special ability to insult others so that he may become the target of all enemies while the bashers kill them off. Since it's a Krynn based game, expect to meet Kenders, Sylvanias elves and all the stuff about Krynn.

Graphically, it's not a top notch production. But good games are not about graphics. It’s just what you need to figure out what's happening. Nothing more. It is 8-bits quality or worst.
Sounds
are what video games were about at this time. Sounding like a beeper with quality, Champions of Krynn offers something better than sound technology. Music is also very midi-sequel, but still keep the atmosphere when needed.
The battles are very hard and you may often load back to keep every members alive since no experience is given to the fallen (which cost an arm and an eye to rise back to life). The game becomes more interesting when you level up a bit. Many consequences may happen depending of the choices you make. If you act like an evil one, you will be received like one.
I won't spoil anything. If you read the novels, you will understand more if the story unfolding in Champions of Krynn. I myself know only a part of the entire story but ended liking the game even if I had no information about the novel (or so much few). You can enjoy the game even without the novel, be it said.
