Game Review (written by Shuvelhead) Added on: 11/20/2006
This Game is awesome in its entirety. I am so glad I have found a site that has good versions of the games I love. Dungeon Mater is a first person drive you crazy running through mazes game that never fails to satisfy.
The game starts out at the entrance to a catacomb of hallways. After rambling for a little while you come upon a section of hallways marked the hall of champions. I have spent a great deal of time here looking for the perfect group.
The object is to look at the portraits on the wall which tell you the different stats that the hero you are looking at has. There are many heroes hidden throughout the hall of champions.
My favorite is probably the Chewbacca looking guy with all the power. My strategy almost always is the grab the guys with the most stats and plow through every little monster that gets in my way. And this game totally lets me exploit this fetish of mine. Depending on your memory and sense of direction this game can be extremely fun or totally infuriating. After years of playing this game it is one of the few games I have never actually beaten. It does stand the test

of time and it gives me great enjoyment to be able to play this and other games while I am supposed to be working.
So after you have looked at all the characters you will choose four that best suit your playing style. For example some people rely on magic or stamina as opposed to brute force which I am such a big fan of. This way of picking your characters is very unique and allows you to fully customize your own blend of heroes. When you start off you will find things like armor or weapons that you will be able to equip to each individual character allowing further customization of your band of heroes. After a few failed attempts you will eventually begin to get a feel for what heroes will work for you.
Navigating the mazes and dark corridors of this game are fun but you have got to have a torch in the lower levels in order to see. Wherein lies my biggest roadblock because it takes me time to figure these things out and my torches go out and I can not see where I am going and when you run into a wall your lead guys will take damage and eventually die from repeated bashings into the wall. This would be the part that drives me crazy.

i must have played this game 2 years non-stop, and that's only the 1st time playing! at times frustrating it still had and still does have some sort of way of leaving me glued to the screen unable to stop playing. i've recently downloaded it for my pc and enjoying it once again.15 or some odd years later. i'm presently stuck searching for a key hehe.i only wish they didn't blend in with the dungeon colors so much! if you haven't played this game yet then you're probably half my age. i think it's one of the best games of it's time. i'm looking forward to finishing it again. GREAT GAME!

Dungeon Master - the first Realtime-RPG - it set standards! Much of modern Gameplay evolved from this classic. First there was Eye of the Beholder, then there was Ultima Underworld and so on. Even those Doomlike 3D-Shooters are more or less children of Dungeon Master (at least I think so!). The story is simple - you got to defeat Lord Chaos - to do this you got to go deeper and deeper in his dungeon. The monsters you meet grow more dangerous and deadlier the deeper you go. I am not THAT a big fan of those realtime-RPGs, but if it has to be one, then it's got to be the original - it has to be Dungeon Master!
