Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 03/04/2008
The Dungeon Master 2: Legend of the Skullkeep is the true sequel to the game Dungeon Master even if the game Chaos Strikes Back is also considered as some to be a sequel to the role playing game. The game is a good combination of puzzle solving, exploration and real-time battles. It is truly a wonderful role playing game that was released in the 90s.
The game has graphics and sounds that are much-improved than in the first game. The game also has lesser puzzles than the first game but it features more combat.

Players who enjoy engaging in battles instead of solving puzzles will enjoy this game better than the original. But those who like solving puzzles probably won’t enjoy this game as

much.
In this sequel you must now fight off evil in Skullkeep. Your goal is to prevent Dragoth and his men from creating the Zogate, so that he can not enter Skullkeep. To successfully prevent Dragoth from creating Zogate, you and your men must face hundreds of Dragoth’s minions.
The game is played in the first person perspective. At the start of the game you must build your group composed of four heroes. You will choose the men from the characters inside coffins inside a dungeon. Each character has different attributes and you must choose a good combination of heroes to do really well in the game. As you go along killing monsters, your heroes will gain levels.
Many of the puzzles in the game involve finding keys that will open doors to the other parts of the game. At the beginning of the game after you have formed your party, you must already find the key that will let you out of the small house where your group will end up in after you rise up from a ladder from the dungeon.
After your team gets out of the house, you will find yourself in a dark forest. This is where you will find the shops where you can buy food, weapons and other items.
The battle system and the controls are pretty simple and easy to manage so you shouldn’t have any problems learning it and playing the game. I would recommend this game for any gamer who enjoys a good role playing game. Those who enjoyed the first game will definitely enjoy the sequel but those who have no experience playing the first game or any other role playing game will still enjoy this game.

Skullkeep is a classic; a natural continuation of the series which started with Dungeon Master. It uses the same features a Dungeon Master (with your four adventurers travelling round in a group) but with added features, such as being able to travel outside and introducing shops and new spells. Haggling with shopkeepers is quite fun. You start off with Torham Zed (he's compulsory but is a pretty good character) and have to recruit your party from the cryo chambers beneath Skullkeep. Then you have to battle in the grounds of the keep to gain the keys which give access to the keep. Its very easy to die early on, so save often and don't be afraid to run (if you can!). Finally you make your way through the clever traps of the keep and confront Dragoth. This a game I played many years ago and it was great to get back to it.

This is a sequel to the legendary dungeon crawler computer role-playing game Dungeon Master. Although it uses the same real-time grid based first-person RPG style as the original (though with much enhanced combat, graphics, and sound) Skullkeep is shorter, easier, and has fewer puzzles.
