This is an Advance Dungeons and Dragons game based on the old "Gold Title" Games of the 1980s. It is all about the graphic flashes, but more on the simpler times of games of that era {aka intelligent design over graphics}. Strategic turn based battles with your team of four plus people {of the Cleric, Thief, Fighter, Mage, Etc, etc, etc denominations}.
The gameplay and the design are quite awesome for the year it was made {as were all the Gold Title games of yore}, and it’s simple to get into, but very deep and complex as you get into it.
Offering many hours of playtime, you will run the gamut of not only dungeon crawling, but overworld and town exploring, with the requisite leveling up and experience grind. It can get to be a bit much, but sticking with it usually makes it all the more pleasurable.
The game really falls into place around the three - to - four hour mark, as you get a hang of the system and really start putting it to test. Loot, Armor, weapons, and monsters are all parts of the game here. Not only does it have the usual run of the mill creatures, you will be hard pressed to find more imaginative monsters any where else also. It boggles the mind as
to how many times you do *not* run into the same monster, even in the beginning of the game. Yet I digress, as the typing is killing the hands, that this is an awesome game for anyone, especially those of the Advance Dungeons and Dragons or Role playing genre. Even if you are new to the genre, I recommend this game, as it may seem hard at first for those not attuned to such games, it is well worth the delve in, and who knows? You might just like it. You never know.
And if you like this game I highly recommend the other Gold title Games that were made during the same time period, along with being made of the same ilk. It can go a long way to start just one game, and not want to finish the whole collection. Which, I must add, belongs to all the worlds of AD&D
